Basically I am after a new hoover because our Henry isn't good enough to remove the dog hairs from the carpet as I am having to scuff the entire carpet with a wet cloth to gather up the hairs prior to hoovering. I want a hoover that will eliminate me having to use a cloth & knackering myself out each time! Please help.
Budget is up to £350.

we just bought a dyson dc40 animal (upright), works really well and unlike the miele (which we nearly went for) no bags to worry about...

My mate had a really old fridge sat outside made by hoover, his young daughter was very confused and asked how it could clean the carpets.

Miele are the best and always have been.
Agree on the cat and dog. Cheaper ones are just as robust and well made if your budget is lower. Ive had mine for 8 years now and I have 2 others in rental properties, all going strong.

My Dyson 'Animals' work brilliantly.
They're also so abundant now, I picked the last one up second hand for £40 locally (after I reversed over the last one on the driveway after using it to vacuum the car...ahem...)

Check eBay out for miele, you can get a Cat and Dog for under £200 which is a great price. Ive just replaced my old miele after 8 years with another one!!

We bought our Miele recently and for an extra £30 we could extend the ordinary 2 year warranty by another 8 years.
Yes you have to change the bags and they are expensive but cleaning the filters on a Dyson every 6 months isn't pleasant.

I have A Dyson DC34 Animal:  The critical point for me is that it is extremely portable and cordless. I leave it charging in the hallway and just pick it up and use whenever I feel the need. I'm inherently lazy when it comes to housework, but if I see hairs on the sofa or carpets I just pick this up and whizz it over - job done in a minute. It appears to do a very good job based on the amount of hair it seems to pick up!

We've got the Dyson upright Animal (DC30-something?) its purple anyway and its got that turbine powered brush attachement that seems to do a decent job of collecting our cats hair off the sofa. Having said that, the standard hammer head style attachment works just as well if you are rough with it! The brush on the vac itself is pretty beefy, but this also means it can get tangled with hairs and other things regularly. Normally have to take the scissors to it to cut the stuff wrapped round the brush every couple of months. Still it seems to collect an inordinate amount of dirt and hair... we hoover very regularly too! Dunno where it all comes from.

I have a dyson animal, its not bad but bits have broken
Mum has a sebo, its much much better.

I've just put a Miele Cat and Dog on the skip on our drive. It was quite effective, but Mieles annoy me because they often flip over rather than rotating when being pulled by the hose. We also own a Dyson Animal. I think it's called that because it weighs about the same as a small antelope. It's certainly not because it's any good at cleaning up pet hair. We've just bought a Henry to see how we get on with that. It was cheap and if we find over time that it doesn't pick up all the hair we are going to rub the dog weekly with Veet.
