Basically I bought a sound secondhand Black Monster, and bought the yellow dial and hands from MKII Watches in the USA (Bill Yao). Sadly I don't think he does Seiko mods parts now. I then got Bry at Satin Time to bead blast the whole watch (inc bracelet) and fit the new dial and hands. The bezel is the original, but with all the paint blasted out.

Some very nice examples there. So who wants to sell me a cheap Monster?

Theyre so cheap that there is little point trying to buy one used. Added to that their strong residual prices and you can see that buying new makes far more sense...

Temptation is getting the better of me, but before I commit to the Monster, are there any other Seiko divers worth considering at this price point?

Fyi a Seiko monster or SKX007 could have a Rolex Triplock crown installed that would be a cool mod imo! A Seiko SKX007 or SKX009 can be had for around £90-£110 secondhand! Sterilised Seiko SKX007 caseback, de-blinged case and new dial and hands watch tested and certified to 250metres>>

I prefer the SKX007 (black/black) and the SKX009 (blue/Pepsi) to the Monsters. I bought my first SKX009J on a Jubilee, new for £69....

I've just ordered a Black Monster from Creation. Just need to sit tight and hope I don't get caught for import duty.
